X traces its roots to a Textile manufacturing company in 1839 as the Valley Falls Company. In 1929 the Valley Falls Company merged with Berkshire Cotton Manufacturing Company established in 1889 to form the Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates. In 1955 it merged with another company which made textiles for the soldiers during World War II and thus got its name X.
In 1962 X CEO started buying shares in X and by 1967 he bought enough shares to become its largest shareholder.
Today X is a business conglomerate and has varied institutions under its banner with Investments being a major promoter business of the conglomerate.
